About Orchid House

Set to open in July, Orchid House is the latest specialist home from Footsteps to Futures, designed to provide high-quality, one-to-one care for a young person with complex needs. Located in Nottinghamshire on a new-build estate that still benefits from a quiet, semi-rural setting, Orchid House offers a perfect balance of calm surroundings and good transport links.

Orchid House is a solo provision, welcoming any gender aged 7–18. The home is tailored for children and young people who may present with complex and challenging behaviours, and is open to referrals from a wide range of backgrounds. With 2:1 staffing provided 24/7, every aspect of care is personalised, consistent, and emotionally supportive.

The property has been thoughtfully designed to be both modern and homely. It features a spacious lounge, a contemporary kitchen diner, and a quaint back garden — featuring an annex. The entire environment promotes a sense of calm, safety, and belonging.

At Orchid House, the focus is on building trust, providing emotional stability, and helping young people to develop their social and emotional intelligence. The home is staffed by a committed, skilled, and knowledgeable team who are passionate about meeting each young person’s unique needs through a genuinely therapeutic approach.

From the very first day, Orchid House is being developed with care, warmth, and high standards in mind — to offer a safe space where a young person can feel welcomed, supported, and given the opportunity to grow.

We’re excited to open this new chapter and, as always, we are looking to welcome friendly and passionate individuals who want to be part of something meaningful — helping young people find their voice and their future.

At Orchid House:

  • A Home for solo provision
  • Any Gender
  • Specialist staff working with younger children in emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • High quality care from an experienced team
  • Access to bespoke psychological services

Meet our Registered Manager

Before joining Footsteps to Futures, I was working as a Services Manager for a large multi-site semi-independent accommodation provider supporting young people aged 16–25. I really enjoyed helping young people build independence and prepare for adulthood. I was also involved in the provider becoming Ofsted registered, and this included additional training and development around managing a service that delivers high-quality care to children. That experience made me realise I wanted to work more closely with younger children in residential care, where I feel I can have a more meaningful impact on their progress and wellbeing.

Earlier in my career, I worked in frontline roles that exposed me to the realities of exploitation and criminal behaviour. This gave me a strong understanding of the vulnerabilities that children in care can face, and the role that effective safeguarding and risk management plays. It’s important to notice even small changes, that may seem insignificant to others, and then acting early to keep the child safe.  I’m passionate about helping children feel secure and loved, so they can build confidence in themselves, see their potential, and be given the opportunity to live fulfilling and happy lives.

I’m really proud to manage our two solo homes.  They feel warm, supportive, and genuinely like home. I’m equally proud of my team, who are amazing people who care deeply about the children they support and show that in everything they do.
