Deputy manager at Garden House
Nestled in the charming market town of Melton Mowbray, Garden House is the newest addition to the Footsteps to Futures family of specialist children’s residential homes. Officially opened on 1st May 2025, Garden House offers a safe, modern, and nurturing environment for up to three children aged 7 to 18.
Designed with both comfort and care in mind, Garden House is a modern, spacious home in Leicestershire that blends therapeutic support with a genuine sense of homeliness. The home features a calming green-themed living room, large bedrooms, a sleek modern bathroom, and a contemporary kitchen with a breakfast bar that opens into a bright dining room, overlooking the huge rear garden. This outdoor space includes an allotment patch ready to grow fruit and vegetables, and a peaceful summer house, perfect for quiet moments or play.
We understand that each child’s journey is unique. Our specialised team, experienced in supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, provides bespoke psychological services and a genuinely therapeutic approach. At Garden House, we are committed to creating a consistent, caring, and supportive environment where young people can feel safe, listened to, and empowered.
With a colourful study and games room, and easy access to local transport links, the home offers both calm stability and exciting opportunities for personal development.
Our diverse and passionate team is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re always looking to welcome like-minded, compassionate individuals who want to help shape brighter futures for the children in our care.
I started at Footsteps to Futures three years ago as a Senior, and I then progressed into a Deputy Manager role, before becoming a registered manager. Throughout this time, I have continued to develop my skills and understanding of the role, ensuring I was ready for each step in my career progression. I have always wanted to work with young people, and I feel fortunate to be part of such a supportive organisation that provides opportunities for growth, training, and development.
I am passionate about achieving positive outcomes for our young people by supporting them to understand themselves and reach their full potential. It is incredibly rewarding to see their progress and to hear them say that they enjoy living at Garden House.
I truly love the atmosphere within our home—it feels like a home away from home. We have kittens, which provide a therapeutic and nurturing environment for the young people, helping them to develop a sense of belonging. I also bring my dog into work, and the young people really enjoy spending time with her and playing in the garden.
My team is incredibly supportive and committed to listening to the young people’s views, wishes, and feelings. They consistently advocate for the young people’s best interests, ensuring they feel heard, valued, and supported.
